The Empty Chair Outside the Motor Pool

On a remote deployment, vehicle mechanic Ben notices his senior officer, Staff Sergeant Mateo Reyes, tracking his every move—anticipating his needs, ordering him to medical, and mysteriously shielding him from dangerous convoys. When a late-night encounter and a hidden photograph reveal an 11-year-old debt involving Ben’s late brother Caleb, both men must confront the thin line between protective care and control, and what it truly means to let a hero be human.
